As one of northern Virginia's premier home improvement companies, we know that it takes more than being capable to perform home improvements and repairs. It also takes character and commitment. After all, it comes down to putting your trust in the right people. As a family-run business, we'd like you to meet at least some of our wonderful family.

Tom Kosten (TK)
Owner

TK holds a Class B VA Contractor License since 2003. He has been involved in building, consulting and training since 1989. Before officially founding TK’s Home Improvement in 2001, he was the lead trainer at the nation-wide home inspection services company US Inspect. TK was responsible for technical training, mentoring its workforce in all aspects of home inspections, wood destroying insect inspections and radon gas inspections. He is a former member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), was a VA and NJ-licensed termite and wood destroying insect inspector and a National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) listed radon gas inspector. TK is also a trained Exterior Design Institute (EDI) EIFS Inspector and Moisture Analyst. TK is married to his wife, Sue, and together they have raised 10 beautiful children in their self-constructed home. TK received his BA in Political Science from Christendom College in 1988. 

James Kosten
Project Foreman

TK's son, James, has worked side-by-side with his father for 10 years at TK’s Home Improvement. Following in his father's footsteps, James currently leads and oversees each project with his dad.

Sue Kosten
Office Manager

Sue is the proud wife of TK and mother of 10 amazing children -- Kate, Claire, Thomas, Joseph, James, Colette, Colleen, Gregory, Corinne, and Max. Sue takes care of the family, supports business operations at TK’s Home Improvement and is the owner of Suzie's Sunday TreatsSuzie’s Sunday Treats is an organic and locally sourced home baked goods business. She supplies locally owned and operated conference centers, restaurants, and farmers markets with her delicious baked goods.
